A) 19th – 20th September 2007 : the 5th Anniversary of SI Club Targoviste ; there had participated the SI members from 7 SI clubs from Romania and SI members from SIClub Neath – Wales (SIGBI) and it was signed the Certificate of Friendship Link between these 2 clubs.
B) The PEACE SEMINAR – Targoviste, 21st September 2007 : At this Seminar had participated 7 ( from 8) SI Romanian clubs and from another countries: Hanne Jensbo – Past President of SI/E ; Thea Daldgaard – President of SI Danish Union, Annelise Thomsen – Past President of SI Danish Union, Karen Lundbo – Vivepresident of SI Club Aarhus – Denmark; Karen Petersen – the President of SI Club Frederiksund Denmark ( together another members) , Sue Quiq – the President of SI Club Neath – Wales (SI GBI ) – together another members
Part I :
a) “Romania- an European Place of Tolerance” , lecture by prof. Lucian Grigorescu – President of the Romanian Press Club Alliance for Peace, member of the International Federation of Journalists, member of the Romanian Press Club.
b) “Hands of women who build the peace” lecture by Rodica Maciuca – the President of the SI Romanian Union
c) “ A Soroptimist World “ DVD Presentation with aspects of Soroptimist action throughout the world, presented at the SI Glasgow Convention 2007, by Raluca Bacanu – the Secretary of the SI Romanian Union
d) “ Metamorphosis “ – Bilingual volume of poems – wrote and presented by Monica Scridon – the Secretary of SI Club Cluj Romania.
e) “ Friends, wherever you are, love peace!” - artistic show presented by the children from Sunray Kindergarten lead by Liliana Motriuc - member of SI Club Targoviste Romania.
f) “ Gifts for peace, gifts for people” – sale exhibition of SI Romanian Union
Part II :
a) Launch of the “ ANTI – Trafficking of human beings” , project with the help of SI Danish Union
3. PROGRAMMES / PROJECTS
· Describe in broad terms JUST ONE relevant Union Project, still in progress or completed at the time of this report. Give number of clubs involved. Was such Project inspired by the Federation theme? If possible, describe a human event (episode) relevant to the Project. Give name of contact person for this Project. All sums must be expressed in Euros.
The project “ Hands of women who build peace” – 930 euro; the number of the clubs involved 7 ( from 8 of the Romanian Union). The project it was inspired by the Federation theme: “ Let us Build Peace through Local Heritage”and this project had 3 parts:
- a) “ Peace Celebration within Baroque” – 180 euro; Contact person : Terezia Simon- SI Club Brasov ; there was involved 3 SI Clubs: Brasov, Cluj, Targoviste.
- b) “ Brancusi – Hommage et Heritage” – 450 euro ; Contact person Agneta Balazs – SI Club Timisoara; there was involved 2 SI Club: Timisoara and Brasov. At this project we were invited by SI Club Paris Fondateur which was a partner for the events organized in 2007 a Paris – France ( 1st April – 30th June – the Concurs of sculpture; 14th September – Awards Ceremony ) for the 50th anniversary from the death of the carver Constantin Brancusi ( great Romanian carver who spent his life in Paris). This concurs it was organized by the patronage of the National Domain of Saint Claud, coordinated by Romanian carver DAN SPANCEANA. The other partners in the project were : the Ministry of Culture, Paris City Hall and Romanian Embassy. In this competition, a student from the Arts Faculty from Timisoara - Wood carving Section had produced a sculpture for which she received “ the SOROPTIMIST PRISE”( 500 euro and DIPLOMA). In order to contribute in this event, SI Club Brasov payed for the flight accomadation and SI Romanian Union bought and sent 3 book / albums in French to be offered to the winners of this competition.
- c) “The PEACE SEMINAR” that took place in Targoviste on the 21st September – The International Day of Peace – 300 euro; Contact persons : Carmen Vlad and Cristina Mehedintu – SI Club Targoviste; there was involved 7 clubs
· How many Programme Focus Reports (PFRs) have been sent by the Union?
The PPFRs will be sent in February 2008.

4. TECHNICAL COMMITTEES
· Briefly outline any outstanding activities undertaken by the Technical Committees
(Extension, Constitution & By-Laws, Scholarship):
The technical Committee – Scholarship had proposed a candidate for Scholarship – Flavia Maria Tanase – proposed by SI Club Timisoara
· Number of scholarships allocated by the Union (if any) --- and total amount of allocations --- in Euros.
· Constitution: only if of major concern
· Extension: Communicate only if any special extension policies and number of clubs under preparation.
5. PUBLIC RELATIONS, FUND RAISING PROJECTS AND AIMS
Have you had at Union or Club level an interesting initiative? If yes, please describe and give the outcome. Any funds raised must be communicated in Euros.
The SI Romanian Union organised many events with has as a purpose funds raising, like: donations and sponsorships, tombolas and we collected the 2 percent from the state assessment that people owes:
A) - SI Club Bucuresti : 900 euro:
- 500 euro - were donate packs with sweets and toys to the children with cancer from Oncology Hospital
- 400 euro – were donate packs with silks for the children from the Ciolpani Kindergarten.
B) – SI Cluj : 1200 euro, - were donate to necessitous families, single mothers, Social School from CHRISTIANA, Asylum from Luna de jos jud Cluj ans to Kindergarten fromTarlisua , Bistrita county (which was affected by floods)
C) - SI Slatina : 2000 euro: 1200 euro were donate to Popescu Family, who have three olympics children (fatherless and the mother ill) for purchase and installation of a central heating for their apartment and the rest of 800 euro were donate as packs for the old people form the Home Hospital for the old ill people.
D) – SI Targoviste : 1040 euro: - 840 euro were allocate for scholarships, in 2007, for two young women ( Mihaela Balas and Oana Badulescu) as part of a project started in 2003. 100 euro were donate for the children from RAZA de SOARE Kindergarten from Targoviste as a price at an educational competition and 200 euro were donate for the children and old people with problems.
E) – SI Timisoara – 1900 euro: - 1000 euro were used as a budget for the programme “FAMILY FAN” in collaboration with ”American Corner ”, coodonator Andra Perta and 900 euro were donate as packs to the children from the IRIS School, to the people with body handicap and to the poorness families.
6. SI PROJECT 2003-2007: "Women Survivors of War" (300 in Euros) - In the SI Romanian Union’s Peace Project “Women’s hands building peace”, 2 clubs , SI Club Brasov and SI Club Slatina have decided to create together 90 Peace Dolls and we have sent 17 Peace Dolls to SI Club Appeldorn – Holland for the exhibition (27.04 – 04.06.2005), “ Peace Dolls from around the world “, in the benefit of the project “ Women Survivors of War”, the Quadrennial Project of SI; This Peace Dolls were made according to the pattern of the Peace Doll on the Federation’s website and were partly dressed in Romanian folk costumes, specific to different regions from Romania and partly dressed “funny”.

SI/E PROJECT 2005-2007; "Let us Build Peace through Local Heritage" :
▪) SI Club Brasov has continued the SI Romanian Union’s peace project “ Women’s hands building peace”
and in June 2006, in Brasov, at the Historical Museum ( Workshop museum- School: ”The Cultural patrimony and
the non formal education” ) was organised an exhibition with dolls made by the children of School nr.31 from
Brasov ( under guidance of a SI member from SI Club Brasov). This dolls were made according to the pattern of the
Peace Dolls on the Federation’s website and were dressed in medieval costumes ( epoch ), specific our city ( Brasov
City is a medieval City) . Through this exhibition it was made well known our SI Romanian Union’s peace projects.
▪) The Union’s project “ Hands of women who build peace” , in which was involved 7 ( from 8 of the Romanian Union) and that had 3 parts, 2 from them - as Federation theme : “Let us Build Peace through Local Heritage “ , :
- a) “ Peace Celebration within Baroque” , this part of the project was organised in the first trimester of 2007. In that period, it was organised in Brasov and Cluj, many discutions and visits at the historical objectives, for the identification of the baroque elements. At Targoviste, it was organised an activity between two high schools. The Muzic and Plastic Art High school presented a documentary about historical momuments with baroque elements, to the children from the Economic College « Ion Ghica ». It was an interacting activity, and it`s ends with music and poetry.
- b) “ Brancusi – Hommage et Heritage” - The competition was organised at Paris in June and July 2007. SI CLUB Timisoara, proposed three students (Anamaria Serban, Aura Balanescu si Ligia Seculici) from the Art University – wood sculpture section, to participate at this competition and they made at Paris, three sculptures. The sculpture of Aura Balanescu won the Soroptimist Award (500 euro and Diploma – about this story it was written in the Magazine of the SI French Union).
SI Romanian Union bought and sent 3 book / albums in French to be offered to the winners of this competition and
on these album-books, were made dedications, in French, as a tribute to the great Romanian sculpture Constantin Brancusi.
